Teaching Experience
Kai has been teaching since 1998, when he got his first trombone students from local middle schools in his area. Since then, he has extended his teaching practices to music theory and solfege (sight-singing). In 2003, Kai was a brass teaching assistant at the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts where he gave private trombone lessons, helped coach the school's small brass ensembles, and taught music theory to both majors and non-majors. That same year, Kai was honored at the New England Conservatory as a teaching assistant in solfege, and later became a teaching assistant in sixteenth century counterpoint. Both positions offered him a chance for classroom teaching as well as meeting privately with students. He has experience teaching all age groups, from elementary school to post-college.
